COLORS of GERMİYAN
Story
Germiyan village was just a road stop. Until the inhabitants decide to introduce their village by turning their homes into cafes.
Nuran's story begins with the unvarnished chairs, she orders for her cafe.
She paints her own chairs. Then the walls. The village blooms as she paints and it flourishes all-round.
The village is popularity rises as Nuran paints. She makes her village an alternative tourism point, which she defines as “My land, my freedom”. Though she’s still the same Nuran. She is the one who talks on the TEDX stage and does interviews and also who sells tomatoes and okras in front of her door.
Director Stetament
I met Nuran with a small newspaper. I decided to shoot the documentary before I met her in real. A peasant woman who succeeded in creating a change is an interesting subject for the documentary. But Nuran intimately compelling, productive and I saw there was a human being in peace with his surroundings. Anarchist spirit of this ”dairy philosopher” created a lot of social change. But still the documentary was founded on the effect of the wall paintings of her village.
Our story is about a peasant intellectual painter beyond a classical success story. Nuran is famous with TEDX conversations, journalist interviews, film crews but also she is like city of Mecca for “urban” people which are get bored their daily life. But she is a humble person who is still growning and selling okra, tomato.
I hope you enjoy watching this fun person.
